Bangladesh is committed to ensuring the health care of mothers and children


Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare

Dr. Ruqaya Sultana said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working tirelessly to ensure healthcare for mothers and children across the country through the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the International Conference on Population and Development Programmes.

This came during his speech before at the United Nations Headquarters.

Doctor. Ruqaya Sultana highlighted the various steps and programs implemented by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to ensure maternal and newborn health, family planning, and adolescent health and well-being.

He said, “We have established 5,500 health and family care centers at the union level to ensure health care for every mother and child, and we plan to appoint four midwives in each center to provide services around the clock.”

He expressed his hope that it would be possible to employ 20,000 midwives within the next two years.

In his speech, the Minister of State

Referred to the National Strategy Paper for Adolescent Health (2017-2030) and the national action plan approved for its implementation.

He also said that we are working to prevent child marriage and violence against women and girls.

The Minister of State also called for increasing international cooperation and partnership to confront the capacity deficit in developing countries.

On the sidelines of the main session. In addition to participating in all these events, the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare and Deputy Minister for Development Cooperation of the United Kingdom participated.

He held a bilateral meeting with the Regional Representative of the United Nations Population Fund for the Asia-Pacific region.

He attended a round table on the global dialogue of the thirtieth session of Deputy Minister of the Netherlands.
